Amber, an independent video game development studio in Romania, opens a new office in Montreal. Amber Montreal will focus on specializations such as engineering, location and Quality Assurance, and other disciplines will be covered once the studio grows, the company said.
Amber Montreal will be led by Gwen Heliou. Gwen has experience in building successful and cohesive diverse teams. Arriving in Montreal in 2001, he spent more than 20 years in both production and management roles, working on mobile and console games. His experience in Technical Art and VFX has been essential to setting up studios such as Ubisoft Halifax.
For a start, Amber is recruiting specialists for 15 full-time positions and because this opening takes place during a difficult period, the studio’s activity will take place in the Work from home system.
Amber is a key development provider in the video game industry since 2013, delivering a full range of product design, development and studio service solutions. With its headquarters in Bucharest, Romania, Amber has a team of over 650 people, including its studios in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Guadalajara. Amber Montréal is the next step in the development agency’s growth, prioritizing presence in proximity to their partners.
The localization services that Amber will offer will complete the menu of support services and will bring added value to its partners. As the studio grows, other additional development disciplines will be added, which will expand Amber’s ability to create multiple time zones, gaining access to new markets and partnerships, the company said.
