Bucharest, October 10, 2023 – by rbj – The Romanian technology startup, Telerenta, which operates the only electronic equipment rental platform in Southeast Europe for home users, invests 500,000 euros and expands its RentBox network of vending machines, developed in partnership with BobNet Group, one of the largest developers of automated retail solutions in Europe.
RentBox is the world’s first service that allows immediate rental and instant pickup of electronic devices.
The RentBox service was launched at the beginning of July, with 4 vending machine units and will be completed with 16 more machines by the end of the year. The units will be located in the shopping centers of the big cities in Romania, the company’s objective being the development of a national network of RentBox automated vending machines of over 100 units, in 2024.
All RentBox components, hardware and software, are developed and assembled exclusively in Romania.
“The RentBox service has been a success since its launch. Currently, 2 out of 10 orders placed online are delivered to the vending machine units. The signing of a new contract with the BobNet Group, to expand the RentBox instant rental solution, with 16 more machines, brings us closer to achieving a milestone in the accelerated evolution of Telerenta: expanding into markets outside the country”, says Mădălin Ilie, CEO Telerenta, noting that the company plans to create a network of 1,000 RentBox vending machines internationally in the next 3 years.
“We are happy to implement the BobNet Chain Management System solution for Telerenta, the team that identified the fact that the future of electronics consumption is based on rental and service subscriptions, which bring additional benefits for the end user, beyond the physical product. With the help of the BobNet vending machine infrastructure, Telerenta offers Romanian consumers the opportunity to benefit from the latest electronic devices at any time and to test the most suitable products for their needs”, says Victor Popușoi, Founder of BobNet Group.
“Our ambition is to significantly contribute to the automation of retail, especially retail chains, with the help of the technologies developed by BobNet, including software technology for automatic management of the operation of any retail chains, and using the innovative developments of fully automated sales points”.
The BobNet Group aims to transform traditional retail into a modernized version with its own network of automated retail IoT devices, customized for various niches and sectors, facilitating the implementation of much more extensive and efficient sales chains.
How does RentBox work?
-Customers, who want to rent electronic devices and immediately take them home, scan a QR code displayed on the RentBox vending machine and select the product and the rental period, which varies between 3 and 24 months;
-Then, the clients are remotely identified and the contract is electronically signed, directly on the mobile phone. The eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) identification process is fully automated and offered by Qoobiss Romania, a leading European company in the field of digital identity verification solutions. The process is fully digitized and takes a few minutes;
-After completing these steps, the product can be lifted out of the RentBox.
Telerenta, part of the American investment group NCH (New Century Holdings), launched, this summer, the only electronic equipment rental platform for home users in Romania and has a potential market of 500,000 users.
The company has developed its own technology that allows individual users to rent electronic equipment for a period between 3 and 24 months. Customers, thus, have permanent access to high-quality, state-of-the-art equipment that can be used according to their needs.
The rental process is flexible, users can easily choose from the products listed on the platform and can even replace them with higher specification ones at any time during the contract. At the end of the rental period, the user can extend the contract or return the rented product.
Telerenta is an alternative solution to the purchase of electronic equipment with full payment on the spot or in installments and is addressed to all those who are interested in technology, but do not want or cannot afford to make a purchase, and those interested in testing and using permanently the latest electronic equipment.
The service offered by Telerenta has national coverage, the rented products can be delivered anywhere in Romania.
Rental costs start at 29.99 lei/month, for a flexible 24-month contract. Users can benefit from product advantages and complementary services at monthly costs comparable to subscriptions offered by TV streaming platforms.
