The Minister of National Defense, Vasile Dîncu, declared on Tuesday, at the 57th Air Base from Mihail Kogălniceanu, Constanta County, regarding the contract regarding the endowment program “Multifunctional Corvette”, that it will probably be signed at the end of April.
Dîncu said that inside the Naval Group Association and the Constanţa Naval Shipyard there are currently some minimum things to negotiate, mentioning that Romtehnica, the company specialized in the trade with military equipment, does not block the negotiations in any way, writes Agerpres.
“Regarding the contract with the corvettes, it is a legal procedure of endowment, the endowment of the Romanian Army by auction, as it was by negotiation, at this moment we are on the last meters of the negotiation. We are waiting for the answer from the association between Naval Group and Şantierul Naval Constanţa, there are still a few minimum things to negotiate within this association and, obviously, in relation to Romtehnica. Romtehnica does not block any negotiations in any way, Romtehnica does one thing, it cannot fail to respect the law and the obligations that the two partners in the association took at the beginning when they engaged in this competition. (…) Probably the end of April is the moment when we will be able to make a final decision “, Vasile Dâncu answered, being asked by the press about the fact that the signing of the contract for the endowment with corvettes would be delayed.
The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) informed, at the end of last year, that the specific procedure for acquiring the “Multifunctional Corvette” ships was completed, in 2019, by declaring the Association formed by Naval Group from France and SC Şantierul Naval Constana SA as economic operator winner. In this regard, the Ministry of National Defense strongly expressed its readiness to sign the contract documents. In accordance with the national legal framework, the two parties shall work together to agree on the final forms of the contract documents.
