Historic moment!, writes the specialized magazine largus.fr. For the first time in France, Dacia is on the podium of the new vehicle market, in sales recorded in 2022, dethroning Citroën (3rd place). In addition to being the favorite car of individuals, Sandero wins the 2nd place on the market, instead of Renault Clio. Good performance for Spring in electric cars too.
Who would have predicted, when the brand returned in 2005, that Dacia would one day steal the 3rd place on the new car market in France? Certainly not Citroën. Sales of the Romanian manufacturer increased by 5% (130,860) thanks to the performance of Spring (+61%), Duster (+2%) and the good debut of Jogger. Not to mention the LPG offering, which provided a response to the rising fuel price at the pump. The rivalry between the two brands is just beginning, as the French manufacturer (-20% in 2022) will reposition itself with the launch of the new Citroën C3 in early 2024.
Another performance: Dacia Sandero overtakes Renault Clio for second place on the new car market in 2022.
Despite a 17% drop in registrations, the Sandero (64,295 units) is second only to the Peugeot 208 (88,821), and is giving headaches to its cousin, the Renault Clio (64,033), which is down 25%. The city car remains the preferred model of individuals in 2022, the Romanian brand (110,165) being close to blowing the first place of the Renault brand (110,952), with a difference of only 800 units. Note the performance of Duster (10th on the market), whose sales increased by 2% (31,652), although it is at the end of its career.
Dacia Spring is the second best-selling electric vehicle after the Peugeot e-208 in 2022.
In fourth place in 2021 (11,386 registrations), Dacia Spring grew by 61% and ended the 2022 financial year in second place (18,326), just behind the Peugeot e-208 (19,222, +8%). Despite successive price increases (from 16,990 euros at launch in 2021 to 20,800 euros at the end of 2022), the Romanian electric model is the cheapest electric model on the market. This price, from which the ecological bonus is deducted, has convinced buyers in the provinces and the countryside.
The Romanian manufacturer starts the year with the launch of models that incorporate the brand’s new identity. The moment will be marked with the launch of the first Jogger hybrid in March, while the Spring will expand its range with a more powerful 65 hp engine in May. The 1.0 Eco-G LPG engine will evolve by gaining 5 hp and torque. But the icing on the cake will be the presentation of the third-generation Duster, which will go on sale from spring 2024.
