The foreign exchange reserves at the National Bank of Romania (BNR) stood at 46.636 billion euros in December 2022, compared to 45.594 billion euros on November 30, 2022, and 40.475 billion euros on 31 December 2021.
“On December 31, 2022, foreign exchange reserves at the National Bank of Romania were at the level of 46.636 billion euros, compared to 45.594 billion euros on November 30, 2022, and 40.475 billion euros on December 31, 2021,” BNR data show.
During the month, the following operations took place: Inflows of 2.630 billion euros, representing: the change in the minimum reserves in foreign currency constituted by the credit institutions at the BNR; replenishment of the accounts of the Ministry of Finance; funding the European Commission account and others; Outflows of 1.588 billion euros, representing: the change in the minimum reserves in foreign currency established by credit institutions at the BNR; installments and interest payments on account of public debt denominated in foreign currency and others.
The level of the gold reserve remained at 103.6 tons. Under the conditions of international price developments, its value was 5.669 billion euros.
Romania’s international reserves (currency plus gold) on December 31, 2022, were 52.305 billion euros, compared to 51.228 billion euros on November 30, 2022, and compared to 45.831 billion euros on December 31, 2021.
The payments due in January 2023 in the account of the public debt denominated in foreign currency, direct or guaranteed by the Ministry of Finance, amount to approximately 147 million euros.
