The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSEA) announces today that the Metro Cash & Carry Romania hypermarket network is withdrawing from the market and from customers frozen chicken legs with back, produced by Superdrob SA, a Polish company.
The lots withdrawn from sale are 14221 and 14421, and the expiration date of the products is October 23, 2022. The product was sold in several Metro stores in Bucharest, Constanta, Deva, Galati, Oradea, Pitesti, Sibiu, Timisoara and Targu Mures.
“If you bought the mentioned product, please do not consume it and return it to Metro Cash & Carry Romania SRL stores until 04.02.2022, and you will receive its equivalent value. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this incident. “, it is shown in the retailer’s announcement.
This is the second time in recent months that Metro has withdrawn from the market products belonging to the Polish company Superdrob.
In November last year, the retailer announced that it had initiated the withdrawal from the market and from customers of frozen chicken legs with back, from the Polish manufacturer Superdrob SA, due to the presence of Salmonella Enteritidis in these products.
Salmonella can cause severe stomach or intestinal problems (salmonellosis).
Numerous products of Polish origin that do not comply with the sanitary norms and are harmful to health have been officially reported in the big food chains in Romania. It is incomprehensible why ANSVSA does not ban the import of poultry meat from Poland, given that Poland has been affected by bird flu for many years.
