Romania will start in the weeks following the production of essential materials such as masks, suits and biocides, announced the Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, Virgil Popescu, who added that he is in the process including the reopening of closed factories that can help production. of sanitary materials.
“Soon, in Romania, the production of essential materials will begin: masks, suits, biocides. I found solidarity and goodwill from several producers. I am optimistic that we will be able to produce the first protective mask in Romania next week or at the end of next week. There are several interested companies, we support absolutely all the companies that want to do this. Together with the Ministry of Finance, we will provide measures to support the business environment, preferential loans for such types of production and, soon, we will start the production of essential materials, both masks and suits, as well as biocides, “said Minister Virgil Popescu.
Asked if he is considering building a factory in Romania, he said he is considering any scenario, including restarting some factories.
“We are considering any scenario, including the reopening of closed factories that can help produce sanitary materials. We are in a permanent crisis cell and we discuss absolutely all the scenarios. If it is necessary to build a production capacity, we will do it. If it is necessary to requisition a production capacity, we will also do this ”, stated the Minister of Economy.
Virgil Popescu also said on Tuesday that the largest cosmetics producer in Romania asked the Ministry of Health for approval, “and will get it soon”, for the opening of a biocidal production line.
“The largest cosmetics manufacturer has asked the Ministry of Health for approval and will obtain it today or tomorrow for the opening of a biocidal production line in Cluj. It’s about the producer from Cluj and I think that together with them we will solve the problem of biocides in Romania, ”said Virgil Popescu.
