PM of Romania attend to the 2019 AIPAC Policy Conference

It is the first time that a head of the Bucharest government participates in the AIPAC Policy Conference. The presence of Romania at this event strengthens the friendship between Romania and Israel and between Romania and the US.
Romania is the only EU country represented at the level of Prime Minister at the AIPAC Policy Conference.
The AIPAC Policy Conference is the largest gathering of America’s pro-Israel community. The conference is a celebration of the U.S.-Israel partnership and the premier opportunity for every attendee to lobby their Congressional office to advance the U.S.-Israel relationship.
The Policy Conference is also a rich educational experience and inspirational booster shot. Attendees will hear keynote speeches by American and Israeli leaders, attend intimate educational sessions, and be wowed by moving stories of U.S.-Israel partnerships, Israeli heroism, and groundbreaking Israeli innovations that are changing our world.
PM Viorica Dăncilă’s visit to the US started yesterday and will take place between March 23-26, 2019. The Romanian prime minister is invited by AIPAC President Morton Fridman and AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr to the Prime Minister of Romania .
Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă attended a working lunch together with representatives of American companies that have investments in Romania during a visit to Washington DC on Saturday and reaffirmed on this occasion the desire of our country to strengthen the economic dimension of the Strategic Partnership with the United States of America.
According to a press release submitted by the Executive, at the lunch offered by the hosts took part members from the management of Amgen, Motorola Solutions, ExxonMobil, Oshkosh Defense, Parsons, Merck (MSD Pharma), UiPath, Textron / Bell and AMRO.
During the meeting, the Romanian Prime Minister stressed the importance of the transatlantic partnership for the economic prosperity and security of Europe and the United States of America, pointing out that strengthening this link is one of the objectives of the Romanian Presidency at the Council of the European Union.
Also, the Premier Viorica Dăncilă reaffirmed Romania’s desire to consolidate and deepen the economic dimension of the Strategic Partnership with the United States of America. The measures taken by the Romanian Government aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the Romanian business environment were presented to the interlocutors and an invitation was made to invest in our country.
Representatives of US companies expressed interest in a visit to Romania in June 2019 as a result of the presentation by the Romanian Prime Minister of the opportunities that our country offers in a number of areas such as health, research and innovation, information technology, and communications, the source quoted said.
“At the same time, US investors appreciated the measures taken by the Romanian Government to increase the budget for investment in health and infrastructure, as well as to the growth opportunities of the strategic defense industry. The constant dialogue between the Romanian Government and investors was also mentioned during the meeting , and the representatives of the companies present at the talks expressed their appreciation for the participation of the ministers in the investment forums organized by the American companies. The discussions also focused on the recent amendments to the Public Private Partnership legislation, it being pointed out that it includes extended contract terms and allows for a more flexible, and sharing the benefits and risks between the public and private partners, “the release said.
Another widely debated topic during the meeting was the successes of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union regarding a series of important dossiers for the development of the business environment.
Last but not least, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă thanked the United States for its support to Romania for joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, highlighting the benefits that this would bring to American companies that are developing businesses in Romania.
