Bucharest, July 16, 2025RBJ – Pavăl Holding, controlled by the Pavăl brothers, owners of Dedeman, has taken over the Praktiker chain in Greece, for 130 million euros, according to foreign media.

After months of negotiations and in competition with other European companies, the Praktiker Hellas chain of stores is changing hands. According to information, the new owner is the Romanian company Paval Holding, which will acquire the company and its commercial properties, which belong to Eurobank, for an amount exceeding 130 million euros, according to fortunegreece.com

Despite the late entry into negotiations for Praktiker Hellas, Pavăl Holding managed to surpass the offers of giants such as Leroy Merlin (Adeo group) and Videolux Holding (Technopolis) from Bulgaria, presenting the most competitive proposal.

The acquisition places Pavăl Holdong at the center of the Greek DIY market, estimated at over 1.2 billion euros per year, with strong signs of recovery due to the modernization of homes.

Paval Holding is the parent company of Dedeman, the largest DIY retail group in Romania and the Balkans, with a turnover of over 2.5 billion euros and a presence of over 50 hypermarkets.

Praktiker has 16 stores, over 700 employees and a strong reputation among Greeks.

According to foreign press information, which cites representatives of the sector, the Greek company will undergo investments in the store network, digital transformation and, probably, rebranding or even the introduction of the Dedeman name on the Greek market.

For the market, the entry of a regional player with financial autonomy and strong organic development creates a new situation. Leroy Merlin, which owns about eight stores in Greece, JYSK, which is expanding aggressively, and IKEA are called upon to reassess their position against a competitor that does not have a “Western” mentality.
