Bucharest, April 29, 2025 – RBJ – Donald Trump Jr. was in Bucharest on Monday, April 28, on a tour that includes Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. In Romania, Donald Trump Jr. participated in the “Trump Business Vision 2025” conference, a business event organized at the Intercontinental Athenee Palace hotel in Bucharest. Over 100 guests from the business community were present.
Donald Trump Jr., who is also executive vice president of the Trump business holding company, had words of appreciation for the initiatives of the business community and especially for the IT industry in Romania.
“Romania has incredible programmers on the software side, there are many opportunities. There are people who want to work hard, they have knowledge, they don’t want to take 3-month vacations like in Western Europe. So, I think there is a great opportunity in Eastern Europe,” he said on Romania TV.
“As for Western Europe, the Americans I know don’t even think about investing there. Too many regulations, nobody wants to work, they don’t bring any value for the money invested. I think you have a very great potential for business revival in Eastern Europe, which was traditionally looked down upon by the West. I know this very well because I grew up in Czechoslovakia and I saw this when I went to other parts of Europe. Now it is very different and I think there are many opportunities here,” Donald Trump Jr. also said.
“I think politics should involve business, because these countries need to earn their own living. I’m completely out of politics now, I only work in the private sector, I’m still active and popular on social media, where I make my opinions heard. You need both. The reality is that I’ve seen politicians in the United States who have never had a business and yet they make trillions of dollars in decisions. They’ve never had the lives of people and their families depend on their success. They just show up from nowhere and get a government job and stay there forever, they impose their power, but they make lucid decisions. I think both are needed, my father and I are creating a great opportunity for business and jobs in Romania and Eastern Europe, we need a man who knows how to make decisions, to understand how everything works to be able to do that and to break the dependencies we have on those who are not exactly our allies”, the son of the US President also said.
Donald Trump Jr. said in Budapest that Hungary and the Eastern European region should choose the United States over China as an economic partner, according to the news website Portfolio, quoted by Bloomberg.
The call comes as Prime Minister Orban has attracted billions of dollars in investment from China, including in the field of batteries and electric vehicles. BYD will build a factory in southern Hungary.
Hungary and Serbia are also building a Budapest-Belgrade freight line, which is part of China’s global Belt and Road infrastructure initiative.
In Sofia, the Trump Business Vision 2025 event was hosted on Sunday by Nexo, a digital asset and currency platform. Gila Gamliel, Israel’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, also attended the event, Agerpres reports.
According to the organizers, the meeting aimed to have a strategic dialogue on the integration of technology and finance and deepening the partnership between US businesses and global capital.
