The cryptocurrency trading platform Binance is opening an office in Romania, and from October it will also have the Romanian language version of the support service, announced the founder of the platform Changpeng Zhao, writes Profit.ro. Representatives of the Binance platform met with the Minister of Research and Digitization, Sebastian Burduja and State Councilor George Agafiței to discuss the regulation of cryptoassets.
“I think Eastern Europe is extremely important,” says Changpeng Zhao, the company’s Canadian-born, Chinese-born founder. We want to go global by playing locally in multiple markets,” explains Binance’s founder.
“The main topic of today’s meeting with Binance representatives, attended by Minister Sebastian Burduja and State Councilor George Agafiței, was the need to regulate crypto-assets, a topic still not sufficiently explored in Romania. We discussed the MiCA regulation, an instrument expected by all EU states to provide a unified framework, but also about the Romanians’ skills in IT, recognized worldwide. Moreover, we have determined that we will collaborate on basic digital skills programs for Romanians, respectively on professional training programs in advanced technologies for Romanian human capital in this field”, declared the Ministry of Research and Digitalization.
“The next step is for Romania to have clear regulations in the field, falling within European and global norms. The actual (crypto) adoption processes cannot be ignored and must be regulated” – said the head of Binance.
Binance’s head of crypto regulation. Recently, European Union legislators reached an agreement on a bold package of cryptocurrency market regulation, with restrictions and obligations for trading platforms. Romania, as an EU state, also participates in legislation, through relevant ministers, within the EU Council, as well as through Romanian MEPs. There will also be a need for national regulations to implement future European laws, even if EU regulations apply directly.
Binance has already started to establish an office in Romania, already having a country manager here, Ilie Pușcaș.
“Globally, Binance is a remote company, guided by highly dedicated people who inspire every employee to be innovative and contribute to the future of Web3. On a local level, we are curious, we want to know more about the Romanian user in order to be able to offer them more, in terms of education, new technologies, new listed Romanian projects. My strong point is keeping our team connected with local developments and the vision for our development in the country. I believe that any person can come up with great ideas and, together with my team, I encourage everyone to have the opportunity to speak, bring ideas and provide feedback”, says Ilie Puscas.
Founded in 2017, the company is headed by Changpeng Zhao, one of the richest people in the world, with an estimated fortune of more than $17 billion, according to Forbes. Binance was incorporated in the Cayman Islands and has an office in Singapore, but does not have a single registered office.
