Bucharest, October 15, 2024 RBJ – GRAMPET Group and KTZ Express, a subsidiary of the Kazakhstan Railway Company, signed a Memorandum of Collaboration in Astana for the development of a terminal in the Port of Constanta and the efficiency of rail freight transport between Europe and Asia.

“GRAMPET Group and KTZ Express – both members of TITR (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) – signed, in Astana, a memorandum of collaboration. Based on it, both parties are committed to continuing the collaboration in order to expand the infrastructure in the Port of Constanţa, by modernizing some of the existing facilities, as well as by developing a new terminal,” the company announces.

KTZ Express, a subsidiary of the Kazakhstan Railway Company, is a logistics and multimodal transport company.

The memorandum was signed on the occasion of the participation of the representatives of Grup Feroviar Român (GFR), GP Intermodal and Grampet Logistics (all members of GRAMPET Group) at the Translogistica Kazakhstan International Transport & Logistics Exhibition, an event that took place last week, between October 9 – 11, in Astana.

On the first day of the exhibition, on October 9, E.S. Mădălina Lupu, Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Kazakhstan, also visited the stand of the 3 companies.

“We are optimistic about the future of railway transport, both in Romania and in the region. We have ambitious goals, and together with our partners at KTZ Express we can turn them into reality. The transport of goods by rail represents one of the least polluting mobility solutions, being efficient also in terms of costs. By connecting the Port of Constanta and the entire Black Sea region to international corridors, economic opportunities will be maximized. The trust that KTZ Express has shown us for years, motivates us in trying to reach even higher goals”, says Gruia Stoica – president and founder of GRAMPET Group.

Concretely, as a result of signing this memorandum, GRAMPET Group and KTZ Express commit to increase the transport and logistics potential for the services within the TITR and to develop a terminal in Constanța Port, thus expanding the existing infrastructure. This will generate an increase in the volume of cargo transshipment, improve logistics processes and strengthen connections with international trade routes. At the same time, the transport routes China – Europe – China will be made more efficient.

Also in this context, GP Intermodal signed transport contracts with KTZ Express, whereby they undertook to offer each other rail transport services, respectively GP Intermodal in Europe, and KTZ Express in Asia.

GRAMPET Group was the only participant from Romania at Astana and was also among the few exhibitors in Europe. In total, almost 200 companies from Asia and Europe were present at this year’s edition.

GRAMPET Group is a pioneer in the development of integrated freight transport and logistics solutions. With 25 years of activity on the local and European market – having businesses in Bulgaria, Hungary, the Republic of Moldova, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Greece and Slovenia – GRAMPET is the largest railway group and private logistics operator in Romania and Central and South-Eastern Europe. More than 7,500 employees work in the 18 companies that operate 450 locomotives and 20,000 wagons that transport 15 million tons of freight annually. The group ended 2023 with a total turnover of 440 million euros and a net profit of 23 million euros.
