Austrian fintech unicorn Bitpanda announces the opening of a Talent Hub in Bucharest, led by Rares Hutanu as Director of Engineering. Just six months after securing a $263 million Series C, Bitpanda is gearing up its engineering team aiming to bring onboard more than 70 people in its Romanian Talent Hub by the end of 2022.
Eric Demuth, Bitpanda Co-founder and CEO, said: “We at Bitpanda aim to build world class products powered by state-of-the-art technologies. Innovation is at the core of everything we do. Staying ahead of the curve means we need to think big, move fast and iterate. The Talent Hub in Bucharest will help us employ the best talent so that we can shape the future of finance. We strongly believe in the vision that ground-breaking innovations will primarily come from Europe in the future.”
The Talent Hub is located in Unirii View, just a short walk from central Bucharest, and underpins Bitpanda’s strategy to continuously attract the best tech talent to support the company’s growth. The local team will build state-of-the-art platform technologies with a focus on growing Bitpanda’s B2B2C White Label Business, while scaling operations for an end to end seamless integration experience.
Rares Hutanu will lead and scale Bitpanda’s Talent Hub in Romania as Director of Engineering. Hutanu has 12+ years of experience in software engineering. Prior to joining Bitpanda in 2017, Hutanu was working as a software engineer and consultant for several companies and organisations like UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization).
Rares Hutanu, Bitpanda’s Director of Engineering, adds: “I am very excited to be back in Romania to build Bitpanda’s Talent Hub, after more than a decade living abroad. Bucharest is our destination of choice, the concentration of the talent pool is one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe, and I truly believe that the capital has much potential to become the next emerging hub. This is an exciting time to join Bitpanda as one of the fastest-growing fintechs in Europe. We now welcome passionate and purpose-driven tech experts that want to have a meaningful impact while building the leading investment platform in Europe and beyond.”
Bitpanda is now looking for Engineering Managers, Backend, Frontend, Native Mobile Developers (both iOS & Android), Quality Assurance Engineers, Technical Product Owners and Technical Recruiters to join the Talent Hub in Romania.
Bitpanda was founded in 2014 by Eric Demuth, Paul Klanschek and Christian Trummer as a crypto-trading company aiming to modernise investments in the era of digital assets. Since then, the fintech has grown into a leading European investment platform that gives everyone the freedom and flexibility to invest in what they believe in — commission-free fractional stocks, cryptocurrencies or precious metals — from as little as 1€.
The Talent Hub in Bucharest will be the latest addition to Bitpanda’s growing technology ecosystem, which currently comprises physical tech hubs and offices in ten cities across Europe, including Vienna, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Krakow, London, Madrid, Milan and Dublin. Headquartered in Vienna, Austria, Bitpanda now has a diverse team of 600+ people who represent more than 50 nationalities. Furthermore, Bitpanda opened its remote-first Blockchain Research & Development hub, focused on uniting talent around Europe to build state-of-the-art technologies that leverage blockchain for the future in July 2021.
Founded in 2014 in Vienna, Austria by Eric Demuth, Paul Klanschek and Christian Trummer, Bitpanda removes the barriers to investing by harnessing the innovative power of digitised assets and blockchain technology. With more than 600 team members and over 3 million users, the company is one of Europe’s fastest growing fintechs. The user-friendly, trade-everything platform empowers both first-time investors and seasoned experts to invest in the stocks, cryptocurrencies and precious metals they want – with any amount of money.
