Although the calendar is spring, in the mountains it is winter in all respects. The new snow wave in March made the snow cover optimal in many parts of Romania’s mountains. All to the delight of winter sports enthusiasts, who have the largest layer of snow this season.
The ski season will last in Poiana Brasov until April 25, so winter sports lovers will be able to take advantage of the students’ holiday, which begins on April 15, and the Easter holidays. Both for Easter at Catholics, from April 17, and for Easter at Orthodox, from April 24.
According to Agerpres, an information sent by Brasov City Hall shows that next weekend, together with Ana Teleferic, the company that operates the cable installations, will continue testing the impact of the extension of the ski program after 16.00.
Following the discussions between the two owners of cable transport systems, the municipality of Brasov and Ana Teleferic, the operating schedule of the gondola and the Ruia chairlift will be, on Friday and Saturday (April 15 and 16) until 18.00, ie with two hours more than normal.
It is currently skiing in good condition on the slopes of Doamnei, Ruia – except for the area between the gondola and the Red Road, Sulinar, in the upper area of the Lupului slope, with exit to the Ruia chairlift station.
The natural snow layer is 40 centimeters on the slopes at the top, and between 20 and 30 centimeters on the bottom.
The Bradul slope has also been redesigned so that it is ready for those who will come on spring break and want to learn to ski.
Areas of certain slopes remained closed, due to the fact that they no longer provided optimal skiing conditions: Lower Wolf, the area of Ruia between the gondola and the Red Road, the 3 D slope, the Blue Road and the Little Wall.
Considering that the Mountain Rescue Cup will take place on the slope of the Upper Wolf, on Thursday, between 10.00 and 12.00, the area between the upper station of the Ruia chairlift and the Postăvarul chalet will be closed.
