Mihai Filip, CEO, OVES Enterprise

Bucharest, September 28, 2023by rbj – OVES Enterprise, a Romanian software development company, invests over 500,000 euros and expands its activity with a new business line, focused on the production of drones. The decision to invest in this area was made a year ago, with the company now developing both the hardware and software areas.
“We are an innovative player in the market of complex services that we have been successfully delivering for almost 9 years to our clients and we are in a favorable moment for the diversification of business lines.
We started 1 year ago to invest in different software products and more, and at the moment we are working on 10 products, many of them in the drone segment: either the actual construction of drones, from scratch, or software for drones. Here we have products that we build both in-house and with partners. We concluded a strong partnership, for example, with a company from the UK, with which we built several very complex drones, which have both military and commercial uses”, says Mihai Filip, CEO of OVES Enterprise.
In the commercial segment, drones can have the following uses: to deliver medical kits to hostile places, to monitor extended areas through high-performance cameras or thermal sensors, to be used as a relay to transmit data, if there is no network, to be used in flock to triangulate communications, etc.
However, drones can also have military utility and can perform tasks such as: the detection and digital mapping of mines in the ground, the detection, through sensors, of bio-chemical dangers, the neutralization of other military drones, etc.
“We are working to build the drones of the future. All our drones have dual-use capabilities. I can also detect in the soil, but I can also analyze the soil for agriculture. They can carry military equipment, but in the future, they will also be able to carry passengers. They can monitor and secure borders, but they can also monitor traffic. All of them can be used on several verticals”, says Mihai Filip, noting that, in parallel, they are also working on the stabilization part of drones, if their applicability involves launching micro-munitions and using them as a launch platform.
OVES Enterprise is currently developing 9 models of drones, of various sizes, both with rotors and fixed wings. All products are financed from own funds, the company also provides the research and development part, with a focus on innovation and identifying new ways of using drones. Recently, OVES Enterprise has also successfully tested the AI part in the case of drones, which are able, with the help of AI, to fly autonomously in closed spaces, for example, but also solutions for mounting mini solar panels, to increase autonomy or ways of using internal combustion engines, made of magnesium alloy, to reduce the weight of drones, etc.

The first drone model produced by OVES Enterprise, the OVES Octocopter, is already available. It was manufactured in partnership with a UK company.
The model is intended for situations that require a greater degree of flexibility and stability than a fixed-wing aircraft can provide, and has been built with maximum safety, extended flight time and cargo protection as its core design philosophy.
The drone can fly even in the event of a motor, rotor or battery failure, ensuring a safe return to base with all sensors and accumulated data intact.
Main features of the model:
It has redundant motors, rotors and batteries,
It is designed not to lose stability or power in the event of engine or rotor failure,
It is completely weatherproof,
It has built-in cyber security protection.
Next year, OVES Enterprise will start the production of drones in Romania as well, in a factory near Bucharest, the company’s estimate being that, at the end of the year, over 30% of the turnover will be generated by the sales of drones and the necessary software for their operation.

OVES Enterprise is a Romanian software development company, established in 2015 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Starting in 2019, OVES’ strategy included offering more complex software development services for projects in the automotive, eCommerce, fintech, telecom, international government institutions, etc., the company becoming a technological partner for complex and technologically sophisticated projects. Currently, 80% of the company’s turnover is generated by projects outside Romania, which integrate new technologies in the field of artificial intelligence and big data. OVES Enterprise currently has over 200 employees and offices in Romania, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and the USA.
