The Japanese company Tamura Corporation announces the establishment of a new production plant in Romania, in Feteşti-Gară, Ialomiţa. The factory will produce battery chargers for power tools within the Electronic Components Division. The investment is 6 million euros. The start of commercial production is scheduled for November 2024.
Apart from Romania, the Japanese company also considered Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria.
“The branch in Romania requested state aid from the Romanian Ministry of Finance, the value of the investment being approximately 6 million euros. The number of newly hired people is approximately 300. At this moment, Tamura is waiting for the evaluation of the Request for approval for financing sent to the Romanian Ministry of Finance. In a later stage of the company’s development, another approximately 15 million euros will be invested,” the company says.
Tamura Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, has established a new wholly-owned company in Romania to manufacture battery chargers for power tools, within the Electronic Components Division, in response to growing demand in Europe.
At this moment, Tamura is waiting for the evaluation of the Request for Agreement for financing sent to the Romanian Ministry of Finance. In a later stage of the company’s development, another 15 million euros will be invested, the company says.
The batteries produced by Tamura will be delivered to the Makita factory in Brănești, Ilfov (near Bucharest), where the Japanese company produces power tools.
Under the 13th medium-term management plan, which started in April 2022, Tamura aims to develop its business globally, especially in Europe and America. As part of this initiative, it plans to increase production capacity for modular products in Europe, as well as diversify its manufacturing footprint globally.
By opening a new production unit in Romania, Tamura aims to consolidate its presence in Europe and contribute to the development of the country through the production and stable supply of products in the future.
Tamura Electronics Romania Co SRL was founded in December 2022.
Tamura Corporation manufactures and sells electronic components such as transformers and reactors, electrochemical materials such as solder materials and solder masks, soldering equipment and audio mixing consoles for broadcasting stations.
Tamura Corporation is listed on the main market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and has production facilities in Japan, China, Germany and the Czech Republic, with over 5,000 employees.
