Bucharest, July 21, 2023 – SNGN Romgaz SA, the largest producer of natural gas in Romania and one of the largest producers in Eastern Europe, has joined Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), the flagship program for reporting and reducing methane emissions of UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme).
“We are happy to welcome ROMGAZ to our program, an initiative through which member companies pursue the strategic reduction of methane emissions,” said Giulia Ferrini, OGMP 2.0 Program Manager. “We look forward to ROMGAZ’s contribution, as OGMP 2.0 is more than a rigorous reporting framework: it is a unique platform for collective action, with members jointly developing new industry norms on methane management.”
Răzvan Popescu, ROMGAZ CEO, said: “Adherence to OGMP 2.0 is for ROMGAZ a natural consequence of our company-wide strategy to reduce methane emissions, with a real and conscious perspective on the company’s responsibility to actively and consistently contribute to mitigating climate change in Europe and around the world. OGMP 2.0 facilitates collective, innovative action to reduce methane emissions by implementing best practices and available technologies, making improved environmental performance an ambitious but tangible goal.”
