Bucharest, September 20, 2025 – RBJ – Romania has achieved record production of autumn crops this year, announced the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, on Saturday. According to him, the total harvest of straw cereals (wheat, rye, oats, barley, etc.) and rapeseed is higher by over 5 million tons compared to last year.
Of the total harvest of 19.3 million tons, 2.5 million was rapeseed production.
“This is the result of the correct support given to farmers. Agriculture is Romania’s greatest wealth! And we all have to buy Romanian products!”, says the Minister of Agriculture.
In 2024, Romania’s cereal production fell to its lowest level in the last ten years and recorded a quantity 14.7% lower than in 2023. According to the National Institute of Statistics, Romania obtained, in 2024, 17.87 million tons of cereal grains, compared to 20.5 million tons in 2023.
According to a European Union study on the cereal market, published on June 26, 2025, Romania has moved to the positive extreme and is credited this year with the highest percentage increase in agricultural production in the EU: + 21.4%, respectively a total of 23.9 million tons of cereals.
