Bucharest, Nevember 28, 2025RBJ – Based on the bilateral cooperation agreements in the field of animal health and food safety, established by ANSVSA through President Alexandru Bociu, a delegation of specialists from the Department of Animal Health and Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam arrived in Romania on 21.11.2025, with the clear mission of auditing the procedures, flows and operating model of the veterinary and food safety system in our country.

“As part of this action, poultry operators from Alba, Gorj and Vâlcea counties were selected to be audited. The mission ended successfully today, and we are able to communicate that we are very close to the moment when Romanian poultry products will be able to be exported to one of the largest markets in Asia: Vietnam,” informs ANSVA.

“I would like to thank the entire ANSVSA team for their involvement in this project. The success of the mission represents an important achievement, as it demonstrates once again that the veterinary and food safety system in Romania is one of the most efficient in Europe, and poultry meat production is carried out at the highest standards.”, says ANSVSA President – Alexandru Bociu.

Romania has reconfirmed its position as a European leader in poultry farming. In 2024, exports amounted to over 200 million chickens to markets such as France, Italy and the UK, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu. He emphasizes that the poultry sector represents “the strongest force” in the European Union in this field..

The government strategy aims to consolidate Romanian agriculture not only in poultry farming, but also in pig and cattle farming, for milk and meat. The rector intends to support reproduction in these sectors through European funds, so that, starting in 2028, over 4 billion euros will be directed towards animal husbandry in Romania.

In the short term, the authorities plan to implement projects and agricultural processing units worth approximately 2 billion euros in the next two to three years. This initiative is intended to ensure the integration of plant and animal production and processing, reducing dependence on imported raw materials.

An important change concerns the granting of coupled subsidies: these will be conditioned on the effective existence of a link between crops and livestock. Minister Barbu stated that he will not allow large companies to receive support for crops (such as alfalfa) without owning animals on the farm, a practice that “will no longer happen in Romania”.
