The Renault Group is introducing a new product to the European market, with the launch of the first Dacia electric vehicle. The Romanian brand Dacia presented on Tuesday, March 3, Dacia Spring, the first electric model in the history of the brand, with an estimated range of 200 km.
In the last 15 years, Dacia has made its mark on the car market, using the Logan and Duster models.
The Dacia Mioveni / Romania production plant has always presented an attractive car offer, at lower prices, which allowed it to have 6.5 million customers and to impose itself as a European sales leader to individuals with Logan, Sandero, and Duster.
“Dacia Spring electric is part of the Renault Group’s vision of providing sustainable mobility, accessible to all, respecting the values and philosophy of the Dacia brand. This show car foreshadows a mini segment model with 5 doors and 4 seats, benefiting from a 100% electric motorization ”, the company release states.
The series version aims at autonomy of about 200 km according to WLTP norms, thus it can be used both in the urban environment and on interurban routes. The series model will be available in 2021. The body has side protections and shields integrated in the front and rear bars. The SUV’s appearance is emphasized by the over-raised ground guard and the presence of flag bars.
“Particular attention has been paid to optical blocks. At the front, the 100% LED headlights are divided into two levels: a horizontal line at the top and a series of graphic elements integrated into the bumper. In the back, the 4 optical blocks, also 100% LED, form a double Y, announcing the future luminous identity of the Dacia models ”, the press release states.
The front of the Spring show car has the new light signature with the specific profile of the bonnet and calendar. Dacia Spring can be a solution for new mobility services such as car-sharing fleets.
The series version will therefore be proposed and on this market where the Renault Group is already engaged with the largest fleet of car-sharing vehicles in Europe (7,800 ZOE, Kangoo Z.E. and Twizy).
