Bucharest, 09.09.2024RBJ – The American company Dzyne Technologies, owned by Highlander Partners, and the Romanian group Romarm signed on Friday a Memorandum of Understanding for a sustainable partnership that will bring to Romania autonomous solutions of the latest generation, will strengthen the defense industrial base of the country and will create new jobs.

According to a joint statement of the two companies, Dzyne Technologies, a company that develops innovative autonomous defense solutions in the spectrum of UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems – drones) and cUAS (Counter-UAS – anti-drone systems) technologies, will collaborate with Romarm and the main Romanian defense companies to research, design and produce customized solutions for border security, critical infrastructure protection and other key areas of national security.

The agreement formalized a framework for the multiple joint efforts needed to fulfill Romania’s national and regional security objectives, which include state-of-the-art autonomous defense technologies.

“This agreement represents a critical step forward in our strategic partnership with Romania, strengthening our shared commitment to enhance regional security through state-of-the-art drone technologies and anti-drone systems. It symbolizes a generational leap towards innovation, combining our expertise with Romania’s vision to develop advanced drone capabilities and anti-drone systems. Together, we will build solutions that redefine the future of defense,” said Christopher Miller, Chief Strategy Officer at Dzyne Technologies and former US Secretary of Defense, quoted in the press release.

At the same time, the general director of Romarm, Emanuel Ioana, declared that the memorandum “is more than a simple partnership agreement – it is a strong example of the close ties between our nations and institutions”.

“Together we ensure that our armed forces are equipped to meet today’s complex geostrategic challenges with agility and confidence. This memorandum is not only a promise for the future, but also a reflection of the sustainable commitment to peace, security and technological leadership,” said the general director of Romarm.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Romarm National Company signifies the commitment of Dzyne Technologies and Highlander Partners for a sustainable partnership that will bring to Romania autonomous solutions of the latest generation, strengthen the country’s defense industrial base and create new jobs.

This initiative aligns with the wider objectives of the NATO alliance in the Black Sea region, a critical area for regional security. To date, Highlander Partners has made substantial investments in Romania, supporting over 1,000 local jobs, mainly in the Sanovita and Monza-Ares cardiology hospitals. Extending this cooperation to the defense sector offers the opportunity to make significant and similar progress in Romania’s security capabilities.

Dzyne Technologies is at the forefront of autonomous technology solutions. LEAP – the company’s platform for advanced drone solutions for intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance – offers 40 hours of endurance, with nearly 60,000 hours of combat experience, with significantly less cost and human resources required than competing platforms. Furthermore, Dzyne’s anti-drone solutions have resulted in the confirmed elimination of over 1,000 enemy drones in combat environments. Dzyne’s stand-alone single-use products, including loitering munitions, provide advanced technological capabilities that are both efficient and cost-effective, positioning the company as a leader in the field.

Dzyne Technologies is an American company specialized in the development of advanced autonomous systems for defense and commercial applications.

Highlander Partners is a private equity firm focused on long-term investments in industries such as defense, healthcare and consumer goods.

The Romarm National Company, under the authority of the Ministry of Economy, coordinates 15 subsidiaries and a Center of Excellence in Research, Development and Innovation, being the main defense manufacturer in Romania, providing a wide range of military equipment and services. Romarm plays a critical role in the country’s security infrastructure, contributing to national and regional stability.
