After a period of over 5 years in which the production was suspended, the chemical fertilizer factory Donau Chem Turnu Măgurele resumed its activity, announced the representatives of the Interagro Group of companies. By the end of the autumn, another 3 factories of the InterAgro Group will be reopened.
Donau Chem thus again reaches a daily production of about 1,500 tons of urea and 850 tons of ammonium nitrate, for which it consumes 1.6 million cubic meters of gas.
In addition to Donau Chem, the InterAgro group already has the Chemgas Slobozia fertilizer plant in operation, with a daily capacity of 1,500 tonnes of urea, 1,100 tonnes of ammonia and 900 tonnes of ammonium nitrate. Here, the daily gas consumption is about 1.4 million cubic meters.
According to the company, the reopening program of the fertilizer factories operated by the group in Romania will continue at an accelerated pace, so that by the end of this fall, the Azochim (former Ga Pro Co) Săvineşti and ROM Fertilizers (former Amurco) Bacău factories will be reopened, units where staff recruitment has already begun.
“We will reach the end of Q3 / 2020, in the 4 factories that InterAgro will have open, to produce about 5,300 tons of urea daily and 4,700 tons of ammonia, ensuring almost entirely the necessary for these products of Romania”, appreciates Ioan Niculae, president of InterAgro Group.
With 3 million cubic meters of gas processed daily, the InterAgro group thus becomes the largest individual gas consumer in Romania.
Interagro is one of the largest integrated agro-industrial players in Romania and one of the most important in Eastern Europe, operating 6 fertilizer factories and over 47,000 ha of agricultural land. It also owns and operates agricultural processing plants and constantly invests in tourism and sports.
