The production of passenger cars registered in Romania, in the first nine months of the year, was 381,971 units, increasing by 21.2% compared to the similar period in 2021, according to the data of the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM), published on Monday.

The production of passenger cars registered in Romania, in the first nine months of the year, was 381,971 units, increasing by 21.2% compared to the similar period in 2021, according to the data of the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM), published on Monday.
ACAROM informed that the sales of Dacia cars in Europe (EU plus Great Britain and EFTA countries) registered an advance of 16.8% in August, and the car manufacturer’s market share rose to 4.9%, from 4 .3%, in the similar period of 2021.
According to the quoted source, of this total, 230,078 units were Dacia brand, and 151,893 Ford production.
As of September 2022, 51,578 cars were produced in Romania, of which 30,575 units were produced at the Dacia plant in Mioveni, and 21,003 units were produced at the Ford plant in Craiova.
Regarding car registrations, the data of the Driving License and Vehicle Registration Regime Directorate (DRPCIV), cited by ACAROM, reveal that, in the January – September 2022 interval, they increased by almost 8%, compared to the same period of 2021. Thus, 95,276 new car registrations were registered, 7.94% more, compared to the similar period of the previous year, when 88,262 units were registered.
In the ranking of registered brands, between January and September 2022, Dacia is in first place, with 27,709 units, followed by Toyota – with 7,802 units, Hyundai (7,473), Ford (6,845), Skoda (6,405), Volkswagen ( 6,136), Renault (5,429), Peugeot (2,802) and Mercedes (2,669).
In the chapter of second-hand cars, registered for the first time in Romania, 241,992 units are reported, with 20.69% less than in the similar period of the previous year (305,140 units).
