Bucharest, September 9, 2023 – Hidroelectrica – the largest energy company in Romania – has launched the tender for the necessary studies for the 1,500 MW photovoltaic project in Dăbuleni-Sadova, Dolj county, on a land concessioned directly from the State Domains Agency (ADS).
The estimated value of the contract for these studies is around three million lei. The criterion for awarding the contract is the best value for money, where the price has a weight of only 40% in the score. The rest of the score is for the experience of key personnel and the work plan.
The duration of the contract is two years, and Hidroelectrica is waiting for offers from consultants for the studies necessary to start this project until October 12. The procedure is the open tender.
Hidroelectrica’s announcement is the first step towards a gigantic energy project, among the largest in Europe at the moment.
It is about a 1,500 MW photovoltaic park, on land directly concessioned by the State Domains Administration (ADS) in the Piscul Sadovei-Dăbuleni (Dolj) area, a project that has already been declared of national importance by the Supreme Council of Defense of the Country.
Hidroelectrica estimates, in the specification, that it is about the use of 2,200 hectares for the photovoltaic park with a capacity of 1,500 MW, given that approximately 3,000 hectares are available.
The location is the best in Romania for a photovoltaic park, with a level of solar radiation of 1,400 kWh/m2/year, the maximum level for us in the country. The project would also benefit from a 300 MW storage facility, and its connection would be made to the 400 kV Șântăreni-Kozlodui line.
At the optimal level of operation, the photovoltaic park would produce approximately 1.75 TWh of electricity annually.
If it is realized, this could be one of the largest photovoltaic parks in Europe and certainly the largest in Romania at the moment, given that the Monsson company is building a 1,000 MW photovoltaic park in Arad.
Hidroelectrica reported for the first half of the year a net profit of 3.94 billion lei, a historic record, increasing by 46% compared to the first six months of the previous year, against the background of a 45% increase in energy production.
Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of green energy in Romania and the main provider of technological services needed in the National Energy System.
The company operates a number of 182 hydropower plants and five pumping stations, with a total installed hydroelectric energy production capacity of 6.3 GW. Added to them is the Crucea wind farm, with an installed power of 108 MW. Hidroelectrica was listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange this year.
