GSP, mobile offshore drilling

The Romanian Competition Council authorized the transaction by which Forasol S.R.L., a member of the GSP Group (Petroleum Services Group), Romania, took over the main business belonging to some companies of the Schlumberger Group.
Forasol S.R.L., established in 2018, has as the main object of activity services ancillary to the extraction of crude oil and natural gas.
The main activity of the GSP Group is the provision of services/products related to the activity of offshore platforms, the member companies of this group having the ability to ensure a presence in several areas of activity that are limited to construction services of offshore platforms and underwater structures, services maintenance services, integrated project management services and related services, such as fire prevention and extinguishing services, catering services, decontamination services, and offshore helicopter transport services, according to a press release of the Competition Council.
The Schlumberger Group is a provider of technology and services to the oil industry, specializing in the design, development and supply of technology related to oil and gas extraction operations/stages.
The transaction involves the transfer of activities in the field of oil services consisting of: basic services of drilling solids and fluids control equipment, as well repairs, basic services of artificial extraction/lifting of oil through progressive cavity pumps, drilling services directional and measurement services, cementing services, wireline evaluation services, well testing services, flexible pipeline well service and well stimulation services, basic oil extraction/lifting services by electric submersible pumps.
These lines of the business belong to M-I Petrogas Services Romania S.R.L., Schlumberger Oilfield Europe Support S.R.L. and Schlumberger Romania S.R.L., members of the Schlumberger Group.
M-I Petrogas Services Romania S.R.L. its main activity is services related to the extraction of crude oil and natural gas. The company offers products and services for drilling fluids, the opening of production lines, completion and repair of wells.
Schlumberger Oilfield Europe Support S.R.L. specializes in related engineering and technical consultancy activities, mainly acting as a support service center for various entities within the group.
Schlumberger Romania S.R.L. carries out service activities related to the extraction of crude oil and natural gas.
The GSP group is controlled by the Constanta businessman Gabriel Comănescu.
GSP operates an extensive and diversified fleet including eight mobile offshore drilling rigs – GSP Atlas, GSP Fortuna, GSP Jupiter, GSP Magellan, GSP Horizon, GSP Prometheus, GSP Saturn, and GSP Uranus. GSP also operates twelve multifunctional offshore support vessels, one MEDEVAC and three construction vessels – shallow water pipelay and heavy lift barge, a semi-submersible barge, a pipelay vessel and two cranes barges, as well as several ROVs and one Saturation Diving System.
Dynamic, oriented towards the achievement of higher standards of professionalism, and with a determined development policy, GSP has engaged its offshore drilling rigs in an extensive modernization process in order to offer the best services to its beneficiaries.
