The National Federation of Trade Unions in the Food Industry – Sindalimenta announced on Sunday that it decided in the National Council meeting, which took place between December 8-10, to close the bank account of BCR, a bank with Austrian shareholders, as a result of the “totally unjustified refusal of Austria to accept Romania’s entry into the Schengen area”.
Also, the Sindalimenta management recommends to the members of the federation to avoid the purchase of products of Austrian companies, to stop refueling from OMV gas stations and to close their bank accounts held at the banks that this country has in Romania, the communique of press of the Federation.
“Austria’s decision to block Romania’s access to the Schengen Area is an unacceptable defiance towards Romania and Romanians. We’re talking about Austria, a country whose companies earn hundreds of millions of euros in Romania annually, but which has permanently refused to properly fix what it exploits here. We are talking about the OMV Petrom company, which constantly exerted pressure and behind-the-scenes games, unacceptable for a country that claims to be the champion of democracy, to not increase oil royalties. As it has been learned, he still wants to exploit Romania’s oil and gas resources for nothing”, states the quoted source.
At the same time, the mentioned source specifies that “Austrian officials are now continuing the grotesque game of simulated democracy that they have been practicing since yesterday, if we think about the unseen threads of international political-financial pettiness that are always coming together in Vienna”.
“They are surprised by the boycott launched by Romanians against companies with Austrian capital and defiantly state that economic issues should not be linked to security issues. This demonstrates once again the contempt with which they regard Romania and the Romanians who, for the Austrian Government, are only a source of immense profits, sometimes even obtained by resorting to acts of corruption, cheap labor, etc. This new episode of defiance of Romania, a country that has always demonstrated its attachment to EU and NATO values, comes in the context in which Brussels appeals to the unity of the community block in the face of Russia’s aggression. The failure of integration into the Schengen Area is also the failure of Romanian diplomacy. An almost non-existent diplomacy that, even when it is present, prefers to stay on its knees so as not to upset anyone. Until now, I have not seen any of our governors take on this stinging failure”, said SINDALIMENTA president Dragoş Frumosu.
Frumosu also says that all the mandates of President Iohannis were a total failure, and Prime Minister Ciucă is “a person lacking any sense of diplomacy”.
“First of all, we are talking about the president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, an illustrious invalid, whose terms as president were a total failure, from one end to the other. We are talking about Prime Minister Ciucă, a person who lacks any sense of diplomacy, finesse in what political negotiations between states mean, but also about the Minister of Energy, Virgil-Daniel Popescu, the faithful snowball of the OMV, the one who has stood out so far only through decisions of huge increases in the price of energy, closures of mines and power plants and obviously, facilities for Austrian companies. Last but not least, we must also mention the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, whose achievements as head of Romanian foreign diplomacy can be summed up in one word – NOTHING”, explains Dragoş Frumosu.
He adds that the organization he leads appeals to all Romanians for solidarity and faith, so that “we can show European countries the strength and unity of Romanians”.
