The group of companies from South Korea, formed by the companies “AKEDA”, “Hyunday-Power Systems” and “BKB”, intends to buy and invest at the Mintia / Deva Thermal Power Plant, Hunedoara County, so that the electricity production has at base groups on methane gas and photovoltaic panels, according to an announcement by the Hunedoara Prefecture.
Chung Si Woo, President of BKB Energy, announced today that the group wants to take over the Mintia Thermal Power Plant, by participating in the privatization process, and invest $ 1.3 billion there for a 1,000 MW gas-fired power plant. He said a non-binding offer had been submitted.
Chung Si Woo also added that investors are interested in creating jobs, regional development.
The group also wants to enter into a partnership with the Oltenia Energy Plant (EC), in gas and photovoltaic projects. The president of BKB Energy said that he submitted non-binding offers for partnerships for SPVs for two gas projects of CE Oltenia and 8 photovoltaic projects.
Representatives of the South Korean consortium had official meetings at the Ministry of Energy.
Prefect Călin Petru Marian informed investors that Hunedoara County has a well-prepared workforce for energy production and the human resources that will be needed can be used both from the existing one and from those who will be trained in school, at secondary and higher education, according to the prefecture’s Facebook post. Also, the prefect of Hunedoara county conveyed to the delegation from South Korea that it will provide all the institutional support in this case as well as for other possible investments in the Hunedoara economy.
“For us, supporting investments in the county’s economy is a priority of the activity and it is very important that possible economic partnerships are efficient and beneficial for both parties.” said Călin Petru Marian, the prefect of Hunedoara county.
