Bucharest, October 20, 2023 – by rbj – The Romanian studio Amber developed the game Formula E: High Voltage, the first official title based on Formula E in the world. Formula E: High Voltage, developed in partnership with Animoca Brands, is a race management game that uses the energy-efficient blockchain, Flow, to give fans and players digital rights to all objects held in the game, which are NFTs (Tokens non-fungible). Formula E: High Voltage is accessible at this web address https://FormulaEHighVoltage.com. All new users will receive four NFTs (two cars and two drivers), allowing them to play for free and take control of their own racing crew.

Formula E: High Voltage features elements of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, including adrenaline-packed tracks in the heart of cities such as Rome, Berlin, New York and London. Players manage the preparations for each race by choosing the best cars, the most suitable drivers and special skills to ensure optimal performance in various weather conditions as well as day or night races.
Each car and driver in Formula E: High Voltage is represented in-game by an NFT of varying rarity levels (common, rare, epic, legendary – including rare visuals) with a special ability drawn from a pool of over 100 abilities. Collecting, training, upgrading and managing drivers and cars before, during and after races is essential to build a real racing empire in the game.
The current GEN3 racing car, the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric racing car on the planet, will also be available in the game. Players will have access to a wide selection of cars and drivers, both official and fantasy creations, including current 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Champion Jake Dennis and his Andretti Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 car.
The Amber team dedicated to Formula E worked for almost two years on this project. On average, 35 Amber specialists from Romania, the United States, Hong Kong, Mexico, Taiwan and Canada, from programmers to artists, came together to develop this innovative game. The experts at Amber created the NFT Formula E Car collection using volumetric models of real-world cars, hand-painted portraits of real drivers for the Formula E Driver collection, and the real-world tracks used in the game are based on the latest circuits in cities such as New York, Dubai, Berlin and more.
Marty Caplan, head of innovation at Amber, said: “We pride ourselves on putting innovation first, which is why this project was a great fit for all parties involved. Formula E: High Voltage allowed us to we combine our experience in game development, but also our curiosity and passion for technology in the world of Formula E and combine it with the deep involvement of decentralized collectible games promoted by Animoca Brands.”
Formula E: High Voltage is part of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem, which also includes the blockchain games developed under the MotoGP™ Ignition and MotoGP™ Guru licenses, as well as the original titles REVV Racing and Torque Drift 2.
Formula E: High Voltage runs on the Flow platform, a blockchain-focused on sustainability and a leader in energy efficiency, to provide low-impact entertainment in the open metaverse for players around the world. Flow’s Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism is extremely efficient: creating an NFT on Flow requires less energy than making a single post on Instagram or a search on Google ( source ).
Established to combat climate change by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles, Formula E is the first sport in the world to be certified as carbon neutral since its inception. Formula E: High Voltage operates within a carbon-neutral strategy and commitment.
With more car manufacturers on the grid than any other racing series, Formula E is recognized as an innovator with a well-defined purpose, working closely with global car manufacturers and commercial partners to develop sustainable mobility technologies that improve the performance and efficiency of electric vehicles for everyday use.
Kieran Holmes-Darby, Formula E’s director of video games, said: “Players will have the opportunity to interact with Formula E and our races in a dynamic and new way. We are confident that they will appreciate the game experience and be more eager to follow the teams and drivers competing in the championship.”
Will Griffiths, Vice President of Commercial Strategy at Animoca Brands, said: “The launch of Formula E: High Voltage in partnership with Formula E is a particularly important moment for us. Both fans and players will be captivated by the excitement of the race and will benefit from the true advantages of digital property brought by NFT and blockchain technologies.”
8,500 NFT Solo packs and 9,000 NFT Team packs have gone on sale on the game’s official website, https://FormulaEHighVoltage.com.
The Solo NFT Pack ($20-$30) will include an NFT for an official or invented car or an official or invented driver. The NFT Team Pack ($119-$149) contains two official or fictional Formula E car NFTs and two official or fictional Formula E drivers. NFT Team Packs are guaranteed to contain an NFT with an official car or official driver of epic or legendary rarity. Buyers will need a Blocto wallet connected to the Flow blockchain and will be able to purchase the packages using the REVV token.
