The construction works in Romania recorded an increase of 6.2% in April 2019 compared to March 2019. It is the biggest advance among the EU member states, according to data published by Eurostat on Wednesday.
In the euro area, the construction work decreased by 0.8% from one month to the next, and construction works at the EU level decreased by 0.6%. Among the EU Member States, construction works recorded the highest increases in Romania (6.2%), Belgium (1.8%) and Spain (1.6%), and the most significant decreases were recorded in Slovenia (minus 7.4%), Hungary (minus 3.8%) and France (minus 2.3%).
Romania ranks among the EU Member States that recorded the highest increases in construction work and at an annual rate, with an advance of 31.2% in April 2019 compared to the same month of 2018, being advanced only by Hungary where the works construction increased by 40.1% compared to the same month last year. In the European Union, construction works rose by 4.5% year-on-year, while in the euro area there was an advance of 3.9%.
According to the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics in Romania in April 2019 compared to the previous month, the volume of construction works grew by 9% in gross series, and as series adjusted by number of working days and by seasonality, by 6.2%. Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the volume of construction works increased by both gross series and series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality by 33.4% and 25.5%, respectively.
