An amount of over 10,000 megawatts of new capacity will be connected to the network by the year 2030-2031, covering the entire spectrum of technologies, Dan Drăgan, state secretary in the Ministry of Energy, announced on Monday.
“Through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan we have assumed almost 7 gigawatts by the year 2030. The National Recovery and Resilience Plan will start working in parallel, so we anticipate a total capacity by the year 2030-2031, over 10,000 megawatts of new capacity that will be connected to the grid. All these capacities cover the entire spectrum of technologies, which is important to be able to have an energy that we can rely on every moment, every minute, to cover the continuous, constant supply to the final consumer”, said Dan Drăgan.
He specified that the money is in the account of the Ministry of Energy, the signing of the contract and the start of these investments will follow, according to Agerpres.
“The money is available, it is ready to be transferred to the beneficiaries, to the companies that will build these capacities. We are already in the phase of signing contracts for new high-efficiency cogeneration capacities for urban thermal, following green hydrogen. In the next period, contracts will be signed for new production capacities from renewable sources. What is very important to mention is the fact that the Modernization Fund applies until 2030. We want all the measures that we carry out within the Ministry of Energy to have the objective of anticipating the transfer of these amounts necessary to make the investments in the first period, in the first decade of the allocation period. At the same time, I would also mention the letters of intent that were sent by Eximbank for the financing of new capacities in the nuclear field. One very important thing – it’s over 3 billion dollars. I believe that it is the first time in the last period that significant sums are made available to actors in the electricity market”, said Dan Dragan
