An important event at Berth from Constanta Port. The Petroleum Services Group (GSP), a Romanian company whose shareholder is Gabriel Comanescu, one of the most intuitive businessmen in Romania, has taken over the management of the Scarabeo 9 maritime platform for the start of the deep explorations in the territorial waters of Romania in the Black Sea. Arriving recently from Cyprus, the maritime platform was prepared by the technical teams for the adventure of discovering new deposits of natural gas.
Tomorrow, October 26, Scarabeo 9 will leave for sea position. Around 4-5 November drilling begins. The duration is 61 days, then a testing period. If it enters the layer and the layer has resources, it follows the 30-day testing period.
Everyone present at the event believes that in the Trident perimeter, the Trinity – 1X project, Scarabeo 9 will successfully do deep drilling. The perimeter of the Black Sea waters is granted to the companies Lukoil Overseas Atash BV and Romgaz.
The Scarabeo 9 platform is the property of the Italian company Saipem. The technical performance of the drilling rig qualifies it as one of the best performing in this part of the continent.
“It is a great success from my point of view … The reserves in the Trident perimeter are estimated at over 30 billion cubic meters.”, Declared the general director of Romgaz, Adrian Volintiru, present at the event.
Gabriel Comănescu, CEO and president of the Petroleum Services Group (GSP), said that in the Trident perimeter this will be the second probe, after 2014.
“This is the second probe, and the research is being conducted on a new lead. It’s also an exploration probe. In a minimum of 6 months, a maximum of 12 months will be decided for phase 2, the next phase ”.
GSP President says that in the most optimistic scenario in the Trident perimeter gas can be found both in the Neptun Deep perimeter, and in the most pessimistic scenario – half of the estimated reserves in the Neptun Deep perimeter, held by Exxon and OMV Petrom.
To our question regarding the start date of the commercialization of the gases of the Black Sea waters for which the Romanian state granted exploration and exploitation licenses, Gabriel Comănescu replied that in 2020 the ones from Black Sea Oil Gas will be commercialized, and in four-five years from Lukoil – Romgaz and Neptun Deep, perimeter operated by OMV Petrom and Exxon.
The analysts in the field estimate that by 2025, Romania’s natural and onshore and offshore gas production could reach 30-40 billion cubic meters / year, three, four times higher than the production of 2019.
