Bucharest, June 27, 2025RBJ – Transgaz announces a memorandum of understanding with JP Srbijagas of the Republic of Serbia, and the companies will prepare a plan for the interconnection of gas transmission systems between Romania and Serbia, according to a report submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

The company announced: “Today, June 27, 2025, at the headquarters of the Transgaz Representative Office in Bucharest, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between JP Srbijagas from the Republic of Serbia and SNTGN Transgaz SA from Romania took place.

The Memorandum was signed on behalf of Transgaz by Mr. Ion Sterian, General Manager of the company, and on behalf of JP Srbijagas by Mr. Dusan Bajatovic, General Manager of the energy company.

On the sidelines of this meeting, the general managers of the two companies established that they will jointly prepare and present in September of this year, a joint plan for:

–The implementation of the “Interconnection of the National Natural Gas Transmission System in Romania with the National Natural Gas Transmission System in the Republic of Serbia” which involves the construction of a new natural gas transmission pipeline that will ensure the connection between the “BRUA” natural gas transmission pipeline and the Mokrin Technological Node in Serbia;

–The implementation of the South Mokrin-PCG Banatski Dvor-Pancevo-Belgrade gas pipeline.

The construction of the Romania-Serbia interconnection has of major strategic importance for both countries, especially in the current energy context, of the need to diversify supply sources, increase security of natural gas supply, balance supply and demand and facilitate cross-border operations in the field of natural gas transport between Member States and relevant non-EU countries and third countries.”

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between SNTGN Transgaz SA and JP Srbijagas outlines the framework and basic principles for the coordination of activities to be carried out between the two companies.

The investment aims to connect the national natural gas transport systems of the two countries, establishing the link between the Mokrin technological node in Serbia and the BRUA transmission main on the territory of Romania.

On the territory of Romania, the natural gas transport pipeline will be coupled to the BRUA pipeline (Petrovaselo locality, Timiș county) and will have a length of approx. 86 km (border between Romania and Serbia – Comloșu Mare locality, Timiș county).

Romania and Serbia will make every effort to begin the actual construction next year, with the investment estimated to be completed by 2028. This project represents a major step in strengthening the energy security of both countries and in the regional integration of markets, by diversifying supply routes.
