The Swedes at Ikea have invested 90 million euros and created 600 new jobs in the new store in Bucharest, inaugurated on Monday.
This is the largest store in Southeastern Europe.
The Swedish retailer of furniture and interior decorations opened the second store in Romania, after the one located in the north of Bucharest.
Attending Ikea Pallady’s inauguration ceremony, Minister for Business, Commerce and Business Environment, Ştefan Radu Oprea, Ikea said that Ikea has a business model that involves innovation, simplification and involvement from Romanian companies on the supply chain.
In turn, Sara Del Fabbro, general manager of Ikea South East Europe, pointed out that the opening of this store is very important for the company.
“We are glad to continue our trip to Romania and to open the second Ikea store in Bucharest. We are super proud that we are here and that we have these results. We will continue to grow. Opening this store is very important to us. It’s a fantastic, affordable, environment-friendly store. We have invested nearly 90 million euros and we have managed to hire 600 people here, “said Del Fabbro.
The new Ikea Pallady store covers 37,000 square meters and offers nearly 10,000 products to customers. Inside, three models of integral interiors and 58 rooms filled with ideas and inspiration can be visited based on the knowledge of the Romanians’ houses.
In the 12 years of presence in Romania, Ikea has created around 1,000 new jobs locally.
