Bucharest, August 24, 2023 – ATP Trucks Automobile, the only company in Romania that produces fully electric vehicles, announced the delivery of the first ten units.
More than two years after the presentation of its first 100% electric product, the e-UpCity bus, the Romanian commercial vehicle manufacturer ATP Trucks Automobile announced the successful delivery of the first batch of 10 ATP Bus electric buses to the city of Vișeu de Sus, in Maramures county.
“The positive evolution of the manufacturer ATP Trucks Automobile is certainly gratifying for us, especially as we launched our automotive brand. The fact that we have not only fulfilled this promise, but are also expanding our production facilities and starting a second phase of investment in the factory today, demonstrates our very serious commitment to innovation and sustainable development. We aim to contribute to the restoration of the regional and national economy, through horizontal growth, through partnerships with as many national suppliers as possible and, implicitly, reducing dependence on external suppliers”, said Mircea Cirț, president of ATP Group.
The first batch of ATP Bus electric buses was delivered to the city of Vișeu de Sus, which appreciated the manufacturer’s efforts, leading to a positive impact on the level of the local economy, but also on the national car production. This first delivery marks the beginning of a concrete collaboration between ATP Group and local authorities in Romania, focused on the modernization of public transport.
“The purchase project for electric buses of the city of Vișeu de Sus was started as early as 2019, and today it is a significant achievement in the direction of modernizing local public transport. Vișeu de Sus becomes the first city in Maramureș County to have 100% electric public transport, an example of sustainable urban development. We are especially happy that our supplier is also from Maramureș”, stated Vasile Coman, the mayor of Vișeu de Sus.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, ATP Bus electric buses offer passengers a modern and comfortable experience while traveling. Advanced safety and connectivity systems ensure that both drivers and passengers benefit from the best standards in urban transport.
“We are proud of this significant step in our business: the delivery of the first batch of electric buses. I would like to mention on this occasion that new orders are contracted and placed on the production line, with a delivery deadline of the end of this year. They are projects that focus on the importance of modernizing urban mobility”, underlined Lucian Varga, CEO of ATP Group.
According to ATP Bus officials, the e-UpCity bus has European homologation, is modern and adapted to local requirements, ecological and economical. The first ATP Bus e-UpCity prototype had 83 seats and a length of 12.18 m. In the special configuration variant, the homologation even allows for 95 seats. The vehicle has an autonomy of at least 200 km in the city, which can be extended up to 360 kilometers by expanding the battery pack produced by the Chinese from CATL, suppliers of some prestigious companies in the automotive industry.
The axles are supplied by German manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen AG and DANA GK Drive System. The electric motor of the e-UpCity bus is permanent magnet synchronous and comes from DANA Prestolite, the braking system is defined by experts from WABCO, the air conditioning incorporates VALEO technology, and the steering system is BOSCH/ZF. In the development of the exterior aesthetics of the vehicle, a major contribution was made by a team of Romanian designers.
In terms of connectivity, the ATP Bus e-UpCity offers WI-FI, two-port USB sockets built-in next to each set of seats and a monitor with portable external memory for various multimedia projections.
The safety offered by e-UpCity is ensured by the anti-lock ABS system, the electro-pneumatic system (EBS) and the electronic stability control (ESC). The vehicle is also equipped with a monitoring system for the interior space. Its data is transmitted to the monitor in the driver’s work area so that, in case of danger, he can react. Passengers have on-demand stop buttons and access to the emergency door opening system.
ATP Trucks Automobile, a company with 100% Romanian capital, is the youngest business line integrated in 2019 by ATP Group, specialized in the production of road transport vehicles and people. ATP Group has been active in the automotive field since 1995, as a supplier of auto parts and accessories, and currently positions itself as an integrator of products and systems for the mobility of people and goods.
