The Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, discussed on Sunday with representatives of the Masdar and Taqa companies about investments in the production of renewable energy and the development of the energy transport infrastructure, to whom he conveyed that he encourages them to make investments in the field of gas-based energy production as well .
“Investments in the production of renewable energy and in the development of the energy transport infrastructure were the main points that we discussed today in the meeting with the representatives of the Masdar and Taqa companies. Both Romania and the United Arab Emirates will benefit from following the collaboration in the field of energy”, the minister wrote on his Facebook page.
He emphasized that Masdar representatives are already discussing at a technical level with Hidroelectrica representatives, with a view to making an investment to produce renewable energy.
At the same time, we will also benefit from the experience of those from Taqa for the development of the transport infrastructure, namely the Black Sea Green Electricity submarine cable and the green electricity transmission cable on the Tuzla – Podisor route, then on the BRUA gas pipeline corridor, to ensure the connection from East to West Romania.
“I told them that I encourage them to invest in units for the production of energy with natural gas. The Romania-UAE partnership is based on solid foundations and will be strengthened in the near future”, the minister pointed out/
The meeting was also attended by Bogdan Badea – Hidroelectrica CEO, Răzvan Popescu – Romgaz CEO, George Agafiţei – State Councilor of the Government of Romania and the Romanian Ambassador to the UAE, Octavian Bădică.
On Sunday, the minister had a meeting with Geoffrey R. Pyatt, assistant secretary Bureau of Energy Resource, with whom he discussed the latest developments in Romania’s partnership with the USA in the field of energy.
“We are taking important steps forward for reactors 3 and 4 at Cernavodă, but also with regard to the SMRs. We exchanged ideas on the current situation on the energy market, but also on the near future. At the same time, we analyzed the latest developments regarding the energy supply situation of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. The partnership between Romania, the USA and the United Arab Emirates is a strong one in the field of energy,” the minister wrote on the social network.
