The implementation and operation of the ELI-NP laser system represents a major scientific and technological leap forward in the field of high-power ultrashort pulse lasers enabling new frontiers of knowledge to be reached.
The Symposium is honouring Nobel prize winner Professor Gerard Mourou who initiated the Extreme Light Infrastructure project and who envisioned and strongly supported the realization of the Nuclear Physics pillar of ELI.
ELI-NP is The largest investment ever made in scientific research in Romania, co-financed by the European Commission and the Romanian Government from Structural Funds via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
ELI-NP is the first ESFRI project implemented in the new EU Member States EU13, pioneering a novel funding model, combining structural funds (ERDF) for the implementation and member contributions to an ERIC for the operation
Groundbreaking Power Optics instruments and methods.
On the occasion of the symposium, New perspectives for Nuclear Physics will be highlighted; First time ever, a 2 x 10 PW HPLS is operational Frontiers fall, the horizon is the moving limit.
